After eluding the police for 11 years, a Naples fan was arrested when authorities found him in a photo taken during Italy’s title celebration, as reported by Corriere della Sera and cited by BTA.
In the picture, Vincenzo La Porta was seen wearing Napoli’s team kit at a restaurant on the island of Corfu, Greece.
He faces accusations of financial crimes and tax fraud and is believed to have strong connections to the Neapolitan criminal organization, Camorra. La Porta is among the top 100 most-wanted criminals in Italy and has already been sentenced to 14 years and 4 months in prison in his home country.
Previously a “white-collar” member of the Contini clan, La Porta’s arrest followed a prolonged pursuit, jointly conducted with Greek police, culminating in his capture on the street while riding a scooter.
During the 2022/23 season, Napoli claimed victory in the Italian championship, marking the club’s third title win in history and the first since 1990.
