Could anyone have predicted that a footballer who once donned the jersey of Real Madrid would amass fortunes many times over after retiring from the sport? Well, there are always exceptions, and Danish footballer Thomas Gravesen is a remarkable case in point.
The former midfielder, renowned for his robust tackles and earning the nickname “Mad Dog,” could never have foreseen the way his post-retirement life would unfold.
He relocated to reside in Las Vegas, and recent reports even suggest that he amassed a staggering £100 million from investments and poker. Gravesen even resided in an opulent mansion, where his neighbors included Hollywood luminary Nicolas Cage, as well as tennis legends Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf.
He spent eight years in the “City of Sin” and, before eventually returning to his native Denmark, he found the love of his life – Czech supermodel Kamila Pers.
The Financial Success
During his footballing career, Gravesen also earned a significant income, especially during the peak of his professional years in 2005 when he was raking in £85,000 per week while playing at the “Bernabéu.”
According to the Danish tabloid “BT,” Gravesen, who was well aware of the importance of planning for life after football, wisely invested his earnings in several financial ventures. Fortunately, his calculated risks paid off handsomely, and he reaped substantial financial rewards from his business endeavors, hitting the jackpot, so to speak.
While “BT” doesn’t divulge the precise nature of Gravesen’s investments, it does reveal that he withdrew his winnings and made a quick exit to Las Vegas.
The “Las Vegas” Chapter
Reports suggest that, armed with his newfound wealth, Gravesen made his way to Sin City with a singular purpose – to embark on a fresh chapter in life at the age of 37. The initial pages of this new chapter were dedicated to indulging in the pleasures of the city’s casinos.
However, because he wasn’t widely recognized upon his arrival in the United States, he managed to keep a relatively low profile and avoid attracting undue attention as just another high-stakes player.
The Love of His Life
One of the motivating factors behind Gravesen’s move to the United States was his deep affection for the woman who would become the love of his life.
Gravesen, who used to spar with Ronaldo during training sessions, even knocking out one of Ronaldo’s teeth in the process, fell head over heels for the Czech-American beauty Kamila Pers.
According to Danish media, he followed her to the United States, and the two fell in love amidst the glittering backdrop of one of Las Vegas’s numerous casinos. They later decided that they couldn’t depart from the city without sealing their love for eternity, pledging to remain together forever.
Residential Choices
Gravesen and his spouse maintain two properties where they frequently spend their time. One is an extravagant penthouse situated atop a casino in Las Vegas, while the other is a secluded estate where the couple shares their love in a more private setting.
This private property is believed to be located in the Summerlin area, in close proximity to Red Rock Canyon, a place that was once acclaimed by National Geographic as the best location to live in the entire world back in 2007.
Automobile Collection
Given his incredible wealth and lavish lifestyle, it comes as no surprise that one might speculate about the high-end automobiles he possesses. In his biography, Gravesen reveals that he drives one of the limited 2,157 models ever produced of the Mercedes SLR McLaren.
